Transformer!

Ugh I’m supposed to blog about a whole lot of stuff but I’ve been going out non-stop since Tuesday that every time I come home I just want to vegetate in front of the comp. Ade says that she goes out everyday when I complained to her today, but you have to know that my natural habitat is inside of a house, a.k.a. 宅女 (also termed by Ade).

Although I insist that I’m not really one, or at least hover on the non-extreme spectrum because a 宅女, through a brief Google search, brought about this definition:

“宅男宅女”新兴的网络语言，指“痴迷于某事物，依赖电脑与网络，足不出户，厌恶上班或上学”的新新人类， 他们过分沉迷于某种事物，例如动漫、游戏、影碟等。他们完全封闭在自己的世界中，不与陌生人接触，不爱结识新朋友。

“宅人”关键词：痴迷某事物、依赖电脑和网络、不想上班和上学、作息时间不稳定、极少出门、不喜欢接触陌生人、性格多少有两面性、收藏癖、体型偏胖、一般是独身、喜欢或有写日志的习惯、喜欢上虚拟的人物。

如果你符合以上多条，那么恭喜你，你是“宅男宅女”！如果你全部符合，并有更多症状，那么更恭喜你，你可是高级“宅男宅女”！

Basically the definition is in the second paragraph and a person is characterised as such through an obsession with stuff, dependence on the computer or the internet, reluctance to go to work or school, unstable working and resting hours, low frequency of going out, dislike of socialising with strangers, a tendency to have dual personalities, liking to collect things, a body which favours the plump side, is usually single, likes to write a diary or already has one, liking fictional characters.

Err.

Digressing, I finally cut my hair today after the failed attempt last week when Ti and I went all the way there only to find that the shop closed.

Everyone who has seen me was shocked – Ade asked if school was stressing me out, and it did manage to elicit a few exclaiming shouts at home… the exception being Pa because he would only be shocked if I stepped in his general vicinity with dog shit smeared across the soles of my shoes. Shocked and then very angry.

Even the hairdresser was shocked. I remember asking her to cut it even shorter twice during the session when she paused to show me work-in-progress :P

$10 only! And I was so excited when she used a shaver to shave the sides at the back after I told her I wanted the back to be shorter XD (I originally asked for a ‘V’ shape for the back but it became apparent that she didn’t want to do it ^^;)

Also, she styled it for me with a dab of gel! $10 onlyyyyyy!

The general concensus is that it looks nice, with the exception of Brat#2, who maintains that it’s ugly and that if I wanted short hair, I might as well wear my short-haired wig. LOL!

Good things can only come out of this new hairdo:

- Less shampoo.
- No need to hair dry my hair because it dries fast.
- Earrings don’t get hidden anymore.
- No more eating strands of hair by accident.
- Time to wear scarfs on the neck! Because of the cold.
- HEADGEAR!!!!!!!1 Tried on some headwear at Pull & Bear and M)phosis today and hats that looked ugly with my long hair looks disarmingly agreeable now!
- I’m sure I could pass off as a guy if I dress right!

But there are some minus points:

- MY WARDROBE DOES NOT MATCH THE PUNKY DO. This is the most important.
- I probably need to go for a trim every now and then.
- I actually look a bit toot. This was probably the best photo which made me look more serious and un-dorky than I really am. Mum says I look a whole lot younger now, like 17-ish. She did comment that I didn’t like and even cried for having short hair when I was younger (but that was because I didn’t have a choice, Mum…)

Okay time to sleep now. Hair is dried!

Modesto & Bakerzin

Ade and I had an early dinner at Modesto in Vivocity. At first there was only a family dining there, but soon after at about 6+pm there was a couple, 2 ang mohs, a japanese family, and a family who dined al fresco. Seems like this place is pretty popular with molecules containing children!

I really appreciate the menu having life-sized pictures to gauge the size of the regular and mini pizzas! +1.

The plate was amusing. Cute! Also, the glass of water came with a slice of lemon (sometimes while drinking I wonder if it’s meant to be for washing hands after eating chilli crab…)

The olive oil and vinegar reminded me a lot of my first time eating bread this way at Prego.

We had the Salsiccia e Scar-something. It’s what I can make out from the photo of the menu. The meatballs were not bad, and the thin crispy crust was yummy!

After that we paid cash and after the bill had been sent to the register, realised that we could be entitled to a 10% discount using Mastercard (which Ade has). Ade hurriedly called the waiter over and flashed a card straight from her wallet, asking if we could change our payment mode. Something was wrong with the card she was holding… It was pink and it had a barcode. That was her NRIC la! And she didn’t seem to be holding any other card in front of it. Damn funny!

Apparently Ade always has her credit card at the front of the pocket, but recently she had to change the address at her NRIC card that’s why it was where her credit card was supposed to be.

Ade said that Bakerzin has monthly promotions. June’s promo is New York Cheesecake for 50% off. I usually don’t trust gel-like toppings, because they seem to promise loads of artificial sweetening which leaves me exceptionally thirsty after, but this one seems to be just nice; not too thick a layer while having a tinge of sourness. I was so mesmerised by the gel that I didn’t really notice the cheesecake…

I also found out what kind of things Ade has been saying about me. There was one time KK drove her and his sister over to drop something off at my place. When KK’s sister saw me, she exclaimed how thin I was, to which Ade reassured her that I may look thin but my butt size was 38-40 (and KK’s sister was like, that’s my size!), and both she and Ade bonded over my big butt in disguise.

Thanks a lot Ade, I will always remember this! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

Today March 22

1) I had a small moment to lol at our newly established Singapore Beautiful Wood Museum.

2) Walking home in the evening, I backtracked and hesitantly asked a fierce-looking man if I could take a photo of his dog. To my surprise he agreed, as long as he wasn’t in the picture. His dog is plain at first sight, and a little odd-looking, but he grows on you with his cute flappy ears.

3) Stamen of the hibiscus near my house.

That’s about all that happened today after meeting Ade and Puey (and KiKi) for Ade’s birthday :D

The Grand Cathay

I thought I walked into a play instead of the theatre for Marley & Me with Ade today.

The place is beautiful! So are the dogs.

Pity about the rowdy group of school kids who thought they were still in Macdonalds.

Pa was damn funny in the car today:

Example A: “Sometimes I feel so lazy… I just feel so lazy,” when I asked him to cook for tomorrow’s dinner.

Example B: He randomly sang a song phrase on 98.7fm, and asked me if he was using his real voice. I told him to sing again, which he did.

After laughing like batshit, I told him he sounded like he was dying.

That particular song was pretty high-pitched XDD

9.02am – Gobbled up two Ferrero Roches on my way to work.

11.55am - Breadtalk treat at the office.

12.03pm – Tried a pineapple tart that Rozy made.

1.19pm - Ground nuts start the feast at the Soup Restaurant.

1.20pm – Samsui chicken is messy.

1.21pm – This tofu is super delicious!

1.27pm - Finally everything we ordered was on the table.

5.11pm – Got a bit hungry recuperating at home.

5.42pm – Got a bit carried away with the internets.

5.44pm – Another Ferrero Roche to finish my snack off :D

8.10pm – Pizzahut’s garlic bread is different. Mushroom soup leaves lots to be desired.

8.15pm – Prosperity pizza is only nice at the ‘pillows’, so termed by Ade. Otherwise the crust is hard to cut and the toppings are too sweet.

8.16pm - Spicy chicken wings are palatable.

8.16pm – Some prawn? It was too insignificant to remember the taste.

9.42pm – Desserts at half-price after 9pm at Cartel! Brutally and savagely attacking them. The one on the right is heaven.

10.13pm – Puey and Ade being naughty and ridiculously amused at Super Fatty…

OMFG $10.20 FOR ONE MISERABLE, BLOODY ROLL OF 36 EXPOSURES.

FOR THAT EXACT AMOUNT OF $10.20 I HAVE A WHOLE (6″?) OJI-SAN CHEESE CAKE FROM OUTSIDE JASON’S MARKETPLACE.

WHAT HAVE I DONE. Something tells me I should have sold my soul to the cheesecake.

Btw, strap-on mini wings selling for $14.90. Buy or not to buy? Ade says I’m crazy because it’s meant for Halloween but I want it only because it looks nice and not because I’m gonna dress up for Halloween. I think it’s gonna gather dust. BUT IT LOOKS SO PRETTY DAMMIT.

ALSO, I THINK I SHALL GO BACK AND GET THOSE UGLY MUSTARD YELLOW SHOES.

Make that my very very last guilty pleasure trip to the outside world before I succumb to the horrors of animation datelines and fluorescent lights.

Shopping with Ade today proved really fruitful! I’ve got new (bling) shoes and belt!

Tomorrow is the last day of my really constipated birthday meetings. T^T You people ahhhhh ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

Tuesday Convocation

Ade’s convocation was today. She made her dad, Puey and me sit through the torture of the convocation ceremony. We must really be disliked XDDD

Cosfest 2008 Day 1

The last time I went to Cosfest was about 2 or 3 years back. Seems like it’s gotten a lot more crowded since then. And a lot more foreign since I’ve not been keeping up with fad!anime.

And I made Ade bring Skinny because I was afraid of what I would become should Fatty or Super Fatty tag along. As was the case of a huge guy in blue pushing behind me when I was trying to take a picture (of perhaps the Bleach group) and resulting in the first two shots being very shaky, until I let him stand in front of me. Hello having a P&S doesn’t mean I’m not entitled to taking pictures ley :(

Not having either of the Fatties around also made me want to take less pictures, which was good. Because I’m the kind to get tired of posed shots and will try to get voyeuristic (not in the perverse sense) ones and that is not good because cosplayers don’t like that. And I’ve been beating myself up ever since EOY last year from trauma. Most of it probably self-induced guilt la.
