Half-Dead

A few memorable events from my birthday last Wednesday was:

- me apologising to the cashier for paying with money from my ang pao because I had no cash and it was my birthday, immediately to which I asked if there were any discounts if it was my birthday? And the cashier kept laughing as he processed the payment of a packet of Epson printing papers for Charcoal’s homework with no discount :(

- a Caucasian working at the Dead Sea Skincare cart stopping me at the first floor of the electronics mall I bought the papers at with, “Hey beautiful, are you Singaporean?” To which I spent the rest of the week being slightly distressed at the fact that even a foreigner can’t tell if I’m a native. OTL

- Spending the rest of my birthday in front of youtube laughing my ass off :DDDD

From Friday onwards it was hell and I spent about a total of 4 out of 48 hours sleeping while uncomfortably balancing on chairs in the stuffy product room in school. Also, got a sore right shoulder. Lucky I don’t play tennis or anything like that hee hee heeeee XDDD

It says a lot about the level of spirituality of my teammates when I was the one who slept the most in the group with 4 hours >_< ARE THEY DEITIES?!?!?!?

Although I’d like to justify myself when I say that my ideal amount of sleep-time is 12 hours, and anything less than 9 leaves me a bit cranky :P

Will be staying over at school again tomorrow till Wednesday. As I’ve told friends, I’ll only be able to meet you all after this week ends… and wishlist is updated in case presents have not been bought (esp. in reply to Puey haha!)

Anyway, am horrendously busy :(

Also also, I can’t believe I wasted a whole day playing with my new iPod Touch. Threw a tantrum yesterday and spilled some brine over it (all in the secrecy of my room of course) but after I found that it’s WiFi is much better than my current phone, I’d been playing with it non-stop. This probably means I’m gonna be downgrading my current Omnia yo.

Feels stupid carrying two bricks which share so many same functions… barring phone and sneaky!camera :P

STGCC 2009

The Singapore Toy Games & Comic Convention happened last weekend and it was bigger and better than last year’s! (Although I don’t have pictures to show for it… three consecutive days of waking up at godforsaken hours does make me want to conserve energy so that I don’t faint on the street.)

Well I mostly say that it was better from a biased point of view because this time I went to the STGCC $200 conference for free and got great stuff in the goodie bags from Kidrobot (hello, setting the benchmark for goodie bags which actually include goodiessss, and lots to boot XD). Also, since it was a Friday, I could actually concentrate on getting around the convention hall instead of spending precious energy trying to breathe.

Of course I went to see if Z was there, and she was! To tell the truth I wasn’t banking on being recognised because we so rarely interact but I was quite touched that she remembered my mug :P And it was pretty embarrassing when she asked if I wanted to take a photo, because last year’s STCC I did take a photo with her and it seems like there’s an established link every time we see each other already. Well not that I’m complaining! XDD

On Saturday I had to do an emergency fill-in at the receptionist job, so I thought why not try getting Brian Bolland’s autograph since I was in the area?

That’s an awesome Joker he drew <3 although the ears look a little troubling to me BUT STILL AWESOME.

He talked to the people gathered around the table as he drew Tank Girl. And then he started talking about Watchmen and you know I can’t shut up when it comes to that topic and chatted with him on it. Glad to know that he hated Ozzie as well :P

Midway through his demonstration drawing, a group of Batman cosplayers came in and took photos and got autographs. This was the only lousy picture I got, but I’m sure there are better ones on the web. They looked great!

The finished drawing was to be auctioned at the event.

I passed Super Fatty to the helper in the booth to take photos after the autograph, but I think we had a mis-communication and he got trigger-happy XDD Not complaining! I’m quite shocked that that smug smirk was on my face from this moment on till the next day. Seriously get a grip girl.

Me, Tintin’s copy of Batman: The Killing Joke (of course I got it autographed for him in secret!), and Brian Bolland.

He also drew a Joker sketch on my new sketchbook! I was like, no need to sketch, because there were so many people queuing behind me, but I guess it was weird because I forgot to tell him my name and this wasn’t his works so he drew one anyway <333

Oh and those Daruma matroskas were from one of the Kidrobot tikam boxes in the goodie bags! Eh but the eyes of the Daruma dolls a bit the different from traditional…

Extreme Camping

Stayed over at Senpai’s sis’s condo (it’s complicated) over the weekend. She hooked up her laptop to the huge plasma TV! IT WAS F*AWESOME.

Here’s what we chionged:
Handsome Suit - Loved the pun ブスーツ! Super cute and colorful.
Door to Door - Based on a true story of Bill Porter. Throughout the film I kept thinking of how hard it was for him to twitch his face like that.
Queen of Pirates concert DVD - Truth be told I wouldn’t have watched it but what to do, this is Senpai we’re talking about XDDD TURNED OUT TO BE A GREAT CONCERT LOVELY LIGHTING AND EXTRAVAGANT DISPLAY OF PYROTECHNICS AND PROPS. Also, kept screaming (in horror) at Kamenashi’s unseemly display of erotica, among others :P
Smile episode 01 - Eh first episode was full of super random cuts and confusing and tried to tackle too many topics, but from the previews it looks like episode 02 will be much better. However this is the last I’ll hear of it.
Slam Dunk episode 01 - I think there’s no need to introduce this XD Way to start Sunday morning :DDD
One Piece episodes 218-257 – CHIONGSTER!!!!! And this, the first time I actually start getting serious about this anime, I start from the middle. Win.

Here’s what we ate:

Packed lunch from home – porridge and beans and some fish cake.

WHO WOULD HAVE THOUGHT THAT JACK & JILL WOULD COME UP WITH UNAGI CHIPS!?!?! Also, we shared Pringles and 4 donuts from Jco.

Dinner was a magnificent home-delivery takeout feast of Roti John, Murtabak, 10 Satays, 1 tupperware of beansprouts… I forgot from where. Senpai can testify that I could not move after eating.

Breakfast the next day was Senpai being domestic! Maggi Me with fried egg and others. Nom!

AND THEN FOR A MIDDAY SNACK SHE FRIED FRENCH TOAST A:DFlsmklgjdengkl!!!!

We ordered takeout from Sakae Suchi for dinner. They gave us 6 spoons. It was so lol because seriously the two of us were eating six people’s share???

Have been chionging One Piece from where we left off to the end of the arc (episode 316). Am now starting from the beginning and so far am at episode 10. In the meantime I painted my nails and made earrings. How’s that for productivity while not stepping one foot out of the house for the past two days, hah!

Youka Nitta to Quit Manga Work, Back Catalog Pulled

Manga artist Youka Nitta has deleted her entire webpage and blog on Tuesday, and left only an apology in the wake of revelations that she traced photographs in her works. In the apology, she reiterated her sorrow over the “copyright infringement in using photographs I thought ‘looked good’ in my illustrations.” She added that she will stop future writing work and apologized again to the copyright holders of the photographs, the people involved, “and the readers who have enjoyed the works of Youka Nitta, even for just a little bit.”

The Japanese publisher Libre has pulled direct links to Nitta’s back-catalog from its b-boy website — including even mentions of her works in Libre’s CD catalog and product news. Nitta’s apology on the front page and the bulletin board dedicated to her still remain on the site, and the pages about some of her works are still indirectly available by searching for her name from other products’ pages.

Naruto 292

For some reason I decided to continue where I left off from months ago, back when I gave up waiting every week for the next chapter. The note I made to myself was that I’d stopped reading at chapter 292. The file was modified on November 2005.

HAS IT REALLY BEEN THAT LONG?!?!

Started from 279 yesterday, because I needed to refresh my memory and anyway I really love the evolution of the characters after the gap. Today I’m finally caught up to chapter 408. Nearly made me cry once and really made me cry the second time. Wah lau.

Toycon

Today was the Day 1 of the Singapore Toy and Comic Convention open to the public (Friday was a closed affair so I count it as Day 0). Ade brought me shopping and I brought her toy spying and then it was more shopping OTL. Was feeling particularly claustrophobic today, so the huge crowd everywhere especially in the convention hall was nauseating :(

But before that, WE WERE ON TIME! And had a Yoguru mix at Raffles City basement to celebrate. (Actually Ade was delirious over the opening of the store because she is a fast devotee of the Yoguru following.)

$7.30 for a large cup.
Siao siao I can order 3 packets of chicken rice from the kopitiam downstairs and still have change of 40 cents to buy sweets from the mama store XD But it’s nice for the occassional indulgence la.

Ooh, Skip Beat is going to be animated come October! I hope they don’t butcher it. The style makes it pretty easy for things (limbs) to go awry.
